How to tell if you have cavity walls

Houses were typically constructed with cavity walls after the 1930’s. Cavity walls are made up of two brick walls creating an inner an outer layer between which is a gap or a “cavity”. There are two ways for you to check if your home has cavity walls:

What is the insulation?

Arktek Ltd use a BBA approved mineral wool to fill the gap or “cavity” between your inner and outer walls.

Insulating your loft involves covering the flat area between the beams in your with mineral wool insulation “blankets”. Usually this requires two layers of insulation to give an overall depth of 270mm.

A long as our installers can access the areas between your loft beams, we can install insulation in your loft.

Even if you already have insulation in your loft, it might not be deep enough to be effective, this should be a minimum of 270mm (10 ¼”). If you are unsure, contact us today for a free survey.
